Friendship Verse for a Child

"A sweet friendship refreshes the soul." Proverbs 27:9

I was a teacher for 30 years. Eight of those years was spent teaching in Christian schools in the midwest. I was so amazed by the character of my elementary students. Christian up-bringing, Scripture and prayer had an obvious effect on their young lives.  The Shining the Light Challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs this week reminded me that even young children respond to the positive message of simple Scripture.

I chose to make a card about friendship for one of my granddaughters. The stamp used is part of the Our Daily Bread Design's "Special Blend" set. I didn't have any of their stamps with children, so I fussy cut two little girls out of some Graphic 45 paper I have and colored them with alcohol inks.

I used this week's sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday. Instead of having a trio of flowers in the lower corner, I made my trio with the sentiment, bow, and heart. The hearts were embossed using a tiny hearts embossing folder. The background for the girls uses the Swirly Vines and Hearts. All of the embossed pieces were inked with a blush chalk ink pad.

I'm giving this card to my eight-year-old granddaughter who is known for being sweet. I'm hoping she'll realize the importance of building sweet friendships in her life. May God refresh your soul with many dear friendships, too!

I'm sharing this card with the following challenges:
