Twist of Faith #48 - Children

Today our new challenge at Twist of Faith is:
CHILDREN

And of course include a scripture, uplifting quote/sentiment, or positive verse for or about a child.

We have been blessed with AMAZING sponsors this year and this week we have another:
Milk Coffee Digital Stamps.

I'm so thankful that God has blessed me with eight grandchildren! The oldest inspired my card today for our challenge at Twist of Faith. He's eleven, attends Christian School, and plays baseball. This summer I watched him playing hard, supporting the other boys on the game, trying really hard to make bases or catch balls, and not getting upset when his team lost. I kept thinking that he was playing the game to please the Lord and not worrying about wins, losses, or who got out.

I included a Bible verse I loved to teach children when I taught in Christian schools. You are welcome to save or use this verse that I typed as a jpg. Just click on it to get the larger size, then right click and "save as." The speech balloon is also my jpg you can save and use if you want.

I used the great card sketch at Here Come the Boys this week.

The image I used from MilkCoffee is called A Boy Plays Baseball. which I colored with Copics. The papers and embellishment I used were from a new paper pack called "Pro Player" coming out Thursday from Close To My Heart. All of the paper strips are from one sheet of 2-sided patterned paper and its zip strip on top. I specifically cut out words to use like HOME, BASE, and PLAYER. I added cardstock and glitter paper mats, also from CTMH. I love the coordinating embellishments, so I put two of them on top. There are other shapes, too, but it's all so very masculine - perfect for a grandmother with 5 grandsons!

I hope you'll join our challenge this week at Twist of Faith with your card for/about children!

I'm sharing this card with the following challenges:
Catered Crop - Summer Lovin'

This last card I'm sharing at Clearly iStamp is exactly what I need to send to my eight-year-old granddaughter. Her family has a cat and I know she'll understand the humorous pun in the sentiment. Night Time Prayer with Teddy Bear

Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge 138 provided this sketch along with the request to use an image from ADayforDaisies.com. Last year I had seen several of their images with children praying, so I used Night Time Prayer for this card. Since it's a digital image I resized it in Photoshop down to 3" and colored it with a combination of copics, CTMH blender pen with ink, markers, and colored pencils (definitely not my best job of coloring an image). This sketch was perfect for using some of my Graphic45 "Playtimes Past" paper on Kraft CS.

I love the way the child is checking on his/her praying Teddy Bear during their prayer. I also made this for the Craft Your Passion Challenge 95 to use a Teddy Bear image. The simple sentiment from Verve seemed appropriate for this child's card.

5.5" square card:
Paper - Graphic45 "Playtimes Past" collection; CTMH Kraft, Moonstruck, Colonial White, Cranberry CS
Stamp - Verve "Joy for the Journey;" digital stamp A Day for Daisies "Night Time Prayer"
Ink - CTMH Black, Indian Corn Blue
Other - CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy "oval 3," Indian Corn Blue marker, Vanilla marker, Blender Pen, Cranberry brads, corrugated star, Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel; Copic markers, various colored pencils

Child's Birthday Card

Since I have eight grandchildren, I was happy to see the challenge at Stamps R Us to make cards for "Kids." My grandkids are finally old enough to appreciate such things. I used the sketch at the Cards & Things challenge #105 and some papers from the "Cupcake" collection from Basic Grey as my inspiration. I did the dry embossing for Sentimental Sunday's Challenge #87. I wish more embossing folders would fit a 5 x 7 card, but since most of them aren't, the easy solution is to mat them and put them on the larger card, leaving a wider border. That's why I modified the sketch below.

I had to use green brads for the grandson whose favorite color is green, like the Hulk! Thank you ladies for the simple inspiration!

5: x 6.5" card:
Paper - Basic Grey "Cupcake" (yellow, red, bright pattern); Close To My Heart (outdoor denim, White Daisy), Bazzil other blue mat
Stamps - both CTMH - Fanfare Workshop stamp set, "Happy Birthday
Ink - CTMH Brown Bag, Holiday Red, Outdoor Denim
Other - Cuttlebug embossing folder, CTMH brads, Martha Stewart border punch
