Love Ya Silly Valentine

I've been wondering what color combo would be best for the valentines I'm making for five grandsons. I recently got some monster stamps with great sentiments that I planned to use for the boys. Pink and red didn't seem right, at least not alone. When I saw the combo at ColorQ this week, I knew that adding that pumpkin pie orange to the pinks and reds would be more masculine. I had some pieces of reversible Black and Sunset with the tiny words "ha ha ha" all over.  Here's their color swatch:

I used this sketch from Deconstructed Sketch 187:
Deconstructed Sketch No. 187

Here's my card. I cut the hearts on the Cricut.

I had fun stamping the little monster. I used Sunset ink then rolled the top edges in my oldest ink, Holiday Red, the style used by CTMH before they made acrylic stamps. After I cut him out, I used a 0.3 pigment pen to outline his heart and a few features. All of the materials are from CTMH except the red glitter paper, which is unknown. All of the papers are old, mostly VERY old (the boys don't mind!). I've cut multiple hearts and paper strips so I can make the other four "boy" cards when I scrapbook with friends this weekend. The other images and sentiments can be seen at the end of this post. Along with their sentiments, they're a hoot!
Thank you for visiting.

I'm sharing this card with the following challenges:
colorQ #278 - above
Creative Moments #61 - anything goes with option Love
Dream Valley #99 - Valentine's Day
Shopping Our Stash #187 - use your oldest ink (Holiday Red, oldest style)
The Male Room #3 - Valentine (for a boy)
Tuesday Throwdown #230 - monster mash

Encouragement from Psalm 37:3-5

Some days I have big plans regarding things I want to accomplish that day. Now that I'm older and slower, that's really not very much. But on those days, it seems I get a lot of phone calls that take me away from those plans. I had two phone calls during breakfast that slowed the start of my day. There were two phone calls during the evening news. I seem to miss it every night. One of those was a long political survey. Yuck! Then there was another long call in the middle of supper. I had difficulty all day trying to open emails. Some I never could open or maybe I just didn't wait long enough. Living on a farm in the country doesn't give me the best connection with broadband.

So I found this scripture tonight that I've always loved. I truly delight in His Word and the faithful way He's always worked in my life. It speaks to me that even though the unexpected can seem to take over the day, I know I committed it to Him and thanked Him for guiding my life when I got up this morning. So I'm going to trust Him that He will help me do what I need to in His time and I have to think that each call was important (even the political one, Lord?) to someone else. I will keep on trusting His faithfulness to lead my life each day in the way He desires.

The verse is from Clear Dollar Stamps, "Value Verses 1" digital image. Because it was tall and narrow I thought the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches #157 was perfect. Since Clear Dollar Stamps is sponsoring their challenge this week, I'm not wanting to be a winner, just a "player." I used ColourQ Challenge #148 for my color inspiration for this card.

I pray that you will also delight in the Lord and see how He works in your life as you commit each day to His leading. The promise is that He will give you the desires of your heart, and He shall bring it to pass. May God richly bless you.

Apple for the Best Mom Ever

I love the images from Heather Ellis, both the Pure Innocence and The Boy and The Dog. I used to be a Reading Recovery teacher (before retirement) and really enjoyed teaching the more innocent kids in first and second grade. I think her images portray a lot of the kids I had. Here's one of her images where the boy is holding an apple, in this card, for his mom. I paired it with the colourQ Challenge 135 and the sketch from My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club #69. My Favorite Things offers so many of her great designs in acrylic stamps, including some that were just introduced yesterday.

5" x 5" Mother's Day Card Recipe:
Paper - October Afternoon (plaid), Close To My Heart "Grace," White Daisy and Cranberry cardstock
Stamps - My Favorite Things (Clearly Sentimental About Mothers), Heather Ellis digital image
Ink - CTMH Cocoa
Other - CTMH buttons, waxy flax; Copic markers, white twill, Cuttlebug embossing folder (Bloom dots, I think)
