New Baby - A Borrowed Bit of Heaven Cards

I was inspired to make these cards when I saw the "New Baby" challenge at Scrap and Craft.  They made me think of a Cricut Artiste cut I had never tried with a cute little diaper shape. They also made me think how important it is to pray for new mothers and fathers as well as new babies. I found some amazing resources for mothers of babies and young children including 14 Scriptures to Pray Over Your Unborn Baby at The Purposeful Mom. I know some new moms would be pleased to have some of these resources included with a card or gift.

I made three baby girl cards using part of my large stash of retired CTMH Lucy patterned paper. I was only going to make one, but it went together so quickly using this Cricut cut that I had to make more!

I made a set of blue gingham diaper cards, too. Instead of having lace, they have white ricrac.

Here's a look at the inside sentiment and back of the envelope.

The main sentiment is from a new CTMH stamp set for many occasions, Many Congratulations.  I also stamped a couple of  small verses on the lace bow on front. and at the bottom the inside card. They say, "BABY a borrowed bit of heaven" and "A baby fills a hole in your heart you never knew was there." Both of those are from a retired CTMH stamp set, New Arrival. I also decorated the back of each envelope with two baby footprints and the sentiment, "An entire world of possibilities waiting to be discovered," both from one of my oldest retired CTMH baby stamp sets, Baby Impressions.

I made my card large enough to fit a 5.25" x 7.25" envelope. Here is my cut file in Cricut Design Space if you'd like to use it.

Thank you for visiting. May God bless you and your crafting for the little ones in your life.

I'm sharing these cards with the following challenges:

YNS Sketch and Colors for Claire Cards

I had seen this sketch and color challenge at Your Next Stamp and decided to use both to create one card. I knew that my CTMH Claire papers from several years ago had all of those colors except lighter blue (from CTMH Pemberly) and Chocolate, which I added.  However, after I pulled out these lovely  papers, I decided to make an entire box of cards. (I do get carried away sometimes!)

Here's my card for the challenge using a new "thank you" stamp I just got. I colored it with matching Copic markers.

I'm sharing this project with the following challenges:
Crafts Galore Encore May Challenge - anything goes
Making Memories Crafting Challenge #5 - anything goes
Simply Papercraft Challenge #46 - anything goes
The Crafty Addicts Challenge #36 - AG/add a sentiment
Word Art Wednesday #280 - 281 - anything family friendly
YNS Challenge #63 - Sketch and all 5 colors of the Color challenge

I decided to make all of the cards in the Cricut Artiste box "swing cards" from both Cricut Artiste and Cricut Artfully Sent cartridges. I also made all of them with the same theme, thinking of you.  I wanted each card to be fairly flat for mailing to someone who is sick or needs prayer or encouragement.

Both the umbrella and the flower below were coated with sparkles using the glitter shimmer brush, but the lighting didn't show that.

Here's a sample of the inside:

One of my CTMH "sisters," Sheila Bennet,  had shared a couple of years ago which frame/label stamps matched the Artiste Swing cards, so I used those: Frame It Up and Perfect Fit Frames.   I had one extra pack of canvas stickers that went with the Claire papers so these adorned several of the cards:

Basketball Super Stars Cards

Yesterday I watched five hours of the basketball tournaments that my two young grandsons played in. The youngest, age 9,  played in two games and his team lost in the last couple of minutes. He wasn't really upset because he's really easy going and received a medal.

The oldest, age 11,  plays on a team of the best possible fifth and sixth graders who play really hard, win nearly every game, and look more like college players in their passion and techniques. They played two hours in a row and lost the final game of the tournament in the last quarter when I saw their energy begin to droop. He and his team mates all became tearful when they lost because emotions and energy ran high through the games. For this reason I decided to make him a card of encouragement. Of course, I couldn't leave out his brother, so here are two cards.

Several challenges guided my card construction. It started with Bitten By the Bug 2 with the theme, "LEAP." My interpretation was a basketball player leaping to dunk a basket. I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday #402, the theme of die cutting from Challenge Up Your Life, and creating my own background suggested by Cardz 4 Guys.

The Cricut cuts came from Basketball, CTMH Artiste (stars), and CTMH Art Philosophy (tags).

I made the background on this first card by rolling ink on the CTMH Stars embossing folder on the flat side with the stars recessed. The tag was embossed with The Paper Studio Stars folder and sanded so the stars would be white.

The second card has a lot of sports words stamped randomly all over with a retired CTMH stamp set, "My Game." The tag was embossed with Cuttlebug Stars and sanded.

Thanks for visiting! Now it's time for me to write the grandma words that help build character, win or lose!
