This week at Twist of Faith we are making easel or pop-up cards. I must admit I've always wanted to make an easel card and never took the time to find directions. Thanks to the resources at Splitcoast Stampers, I discovered how easy it can be. I wanted mine to be a 6.5" x 5" vertical card to go with the digi stamp I selected, so once I saw the directions, it was fairly easy to figure out the scoring positions for other cards.
I chose a great Hummingbird Birthday image with flowers digi from our sponsor this week, Eureka Stamps who is generously giving 5 digital images to one lucky winner!
The inside sentiment is a Scripture from "Birthday Blessings" from Our Daily Bread Designs:
I just discovered I had 2 packages of the long-retired Veranda papers from Close To My Heart. It includes hummingbird images, so it was a perfect choice (and definitely needs to be used up!) The image was colored with Copic markers to match the papers. I added taffy sorbet ribbon and Mocha pearls from CTMH. The flower is made from two different blossoms from Prima.
If you'd like to join our challenge, but don't know how to make an easel card, here's the tutorial I used from SplitcoastStampers. I altered the size. I used a 5" x 12" base. I scored it at 6" and 3." Since I wanted it to fit my envelope for a 6.5" x 5" card, I made the top mat and image for that size. I folded the card down flat with the 3" section on top, glued and ready to adhere to my 6.5" x 5" mat. I simply laid that mat on top, matching it to the bottom of the card base and overhanging the top by half an inch. Easy Peasy!
