Music, Soul Deep - Layout

The other day I was cleaning up and found three snapshots of my aunt and uncle with my brother and I in 1969. They're not great photos, but I was excited to find them. My dad took these simple snapshots of my aunt and uncle, but these were special because I had been thinking about them for a couple of weeks, telling my hubby how amazing they were. This is a rare set of captured moments with people I loved who always lived out of state.

My uncle was a minister and I spent a month with them each summer when I was 13 and 14. Aunt Millie was always singing hymns while she worked or cooked. Uncle Kenneth surprised me at church when he played the piano a few times. He played with such energy and flourish. He was playing the hymns elaborately his own way rather than what was simply written on the page, so my idea was that it came from his soul to praise God. That's why I included Psalm 28:7 from Word Art Wednesday, dated April 11, 2012.

Here's the layout (left page) that I made inspired by the sketch at Scrapping Everyday Miracles last week. For my friends and family, the occasion was my brother's 7th birthday on Christmas Eve. I was 20. I'm still writing the 8.5" x 11" two column page of journaling memories that will go on the right page. This layout will go in my personal heritage album.

Here's the sketch  that inspired me:

The verse I chose expresses their perspective on life and influence on me, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalm 28:7"
