John 3:16 for The Sweet Stop Anniversary

Today I'm getting ready to go to an open house at the Christian school my three grandsons attend fifty miles away. It is such a joy to watch them grow as Christians (in grades 3, 1, and Kindergarten). They have been memorizing so many verses. This is the very first verse I remember memorizing as a child and it still means so much to me. I'm including it in the Little Birdie Blessings Linky Party that started today.

The Sweet Stop is celebrating its third birthday by having us choose which of their sketches we'd like to use. I wanted to use sketch 101 because I had typed John 3:16 and needed a horizontal panel that would fit the verse and a vertical panel for the Sweet and Sassy cross image. The palette from The Color Throwdown was perfect because of the flowers around the cross. I have a friend with an abundance of yellowish calla lilies in front of her house and some years I have purplish asters at my house (although they bloom at different times - sh-h-h!) Here are the sketch and beautiful spring colored palette.

Since my sentiment covers the bottom panel, I didn't include one on the left.

May God richly bless you!

Except for the image from Sweet n Sassy Stamps and the Copics I used to color it, all of the other papers, ribbon, flower and brad are from Close To My Heart, mostly retired.

The Comfort of His Wings

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge#129  used a beautiful Psalm today:

Psalm 91:4a "He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge."
That verse has so many applications. I always appreciate the devotional they include with their challenge. I seem to need a lot of cards of comfort lately.  I had found a wonderful bird image embedded in one of my patterned papers and had cut it out. I had already started making a card for the ColourQ Challenge using the sketch from The Sweet Stop when I found their challenge to make something with wings.

My card uses a verse from Sweet and Sassy Stamps.

The bird is from one of the papers from Basic Grey's Curio. The yellow and orange papers are from Basic Grey Color Me Silly and Oh Baby Boy. The brown patterned paper is from Recollections.

Sweet Stop Sketch #143

I don't scrapbook or make cards very often with shades of purple or lavendar even though it was my favorite color when I was a young teen. I saw the color challenge at Stampin Sisterhood and decided to try a "love" card with their lovely palette.  The sketch at the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge blog was perfect for a set of love and marriage stamps I have.

Except for the two papers that I stamped, the rest of the cardstock is textured, but doesn't show up as well in the photo. This will be my for my daughter's friend who just got married. I decided to add ribbon and pearls when I knew it would be hand-delivered and not mailed.

5" x 6.5" card:
Paper - DCWV "Old World," Close To My Heart CS
Stamps - CTMH "Precious Love"
Ink - Ranger "Dusty Concord"
Other - Martha Stewart border punch, Offray lace, CTMH organdy ribbons and pearls
