Lollydoodle Easter Cards 1 and 2

Next Sunday we celebrate Easter. My family has always emphasized it as a celebration of Christ's resurrection after taking the punishment for our sins with His death on the cross. Praise God that He didn't stay dead, but arose to show us how we can have eternal life if we believe in Him and accept this gift.  He also gives us new life that begins at the time of salvation. He washes away our sins and gives us the power to change and become like Him through His Spirit working in our lives.  As a nation, our culture also promotes Easter bunnies, baskets of candy, decorated eggs, etc. That may be the main emphasis that young children understand, but I have written a message for the inside of their cards that also point to our Savior. Here are two cards that illustrate the Christian origins of Resurrection Sunday and the secular elements of Easter.

The inside sentiment is the verse from Word Art Wednesday this week and a quote I found and typed in Word.

Last week I was sad that my Cricut Expression was dying and I had to buy a new Cricut - the Expore. Because the new Cricut has to be connected to internet to work, I wasn't sure if our rural broadband connection would support my Cricut habit. I was relieved to see that it didn't use too much of our gigabite plan. Tomorrow I'm leading a workshop using the CTMH Lollydoodle Scrapbooking Workshop on the Go, paper pack, and stickease. I have six cards and four layouts that I'll be posting. These are the first two cards that I made using the Cricut.  The white mat and cross were cut using the Cricut Design Space. The layered cross was cut using Slate Cardstock and a piece of woodgrain Timberline paper. The pink, gray and juniper papers were all from the Lollydoodle paper pack.

I'm sharing this card with the following challenges:
Cut It Up #42 - Easter with die cuts
Moving Along with the Times - Easter/Spring
Totally Papercrafts #214 - Easter
Word Art Wednesday #127 - anything goes - I used this week's verse inside

This second card was made using a circle cut overlay from Cricut Artbooking. In Cricut Design Space I changed the dimensions so that the circles became ovals and the size fit my horizontal 4.25" x 5.5" card. The cutouts of the white overlay reveal the Lollydoodle circles underneath. I hoped it would look like decorated eggs. The stamp set is an older retired CTMH stamp set that was colored with Copic markers.

The inside verse is one I made up for the younger grandchildren this year. I don't mind if you use it as long as you link it back to my blog post.

May your heart and soul be blessed beyond measure by the resurrected Savior who gave His life for you in order that you may have eternal life. Let us praise Him for this priceless gift!

Quick and Easy Easter Card

Before we leave today for an Easter Egg Hunt and Supper with some family, I made one more Easter card for the young girls. I used a colored digi image, "Spring Trimmings," from Clear Dollar Stamps to make it quick and easy. I had made several backgrounds for cards so that I'd have something quick when I needed it. That cut the time considerably.  Then I printed the image and sentiment, cut it out, and pop dotted I on a doily. The doily needed a solid background, so I cut a scalloped circle using my largest Spellbinder's die in that set. I added flowers, made the sentiment into a tag, and tied it on the basket with white hemp.

This image set also had a set of 3 matching eggs, which I printed on the bottom of the inside panel. In Photoshop, I copied the three, chose File/New and set the dimensions for a 4" x 6" cardstock. I pasted it twice on the  new document, moved them to the bottom edge and printed. I enjoyed using this set pre-colored in order to save time, but it has all the images in outline form as well, along with many other springtime images.
