I love the way that challenges stretch the way I make cards. Today I used a color combination for a Christmas card that I wouldn't have tried if it weren't for the fun challenge at CR84FN. This week's MOJO Monday Challenge was tricky in one sense. I tried different sentiments on the oval and couldn't fit most that I tried. It seems that those who design sentiments don't make many that can be read in a vertical element. Maybe part of the issue was that I used a 5.5" x 4.25" card for a change. I did really enjoy the strong graphic elements in this design. It gave me ideas for other cards which I'll post later.
I used CTMH Smoothie for the coral, Baby Pink, and retired Breeze for the aqua.
All of the supplies for this card are from Close To My Heart. The dotted pink background paper is from the "Sweetheart" paper pack, but the aqua paper is an older Breeze paisley B&T and cardstock. I used white embossing powder on the pink strip on top with an older stamp called Victorian Snowflakes. I also heat embossed the tree with the newer CTMH October stamp of the month. The aqua sparkles on the tree don't show up very well, nor does the glitter on the snowflakes. The buttons are from the pink, red, and blue collections. The dotted ribbon was from Heavenly Blue collection. I did use dry embossing with the Swiss dots Cuttlebug folder to go along with the other dots and snow theme. Inside I'm combining two sentiments that have the same font and tell what I feel: Joyous holidays start with loving hearts and a happy home. This season, the best gift of all is your friendship. Merry Christmas!
